Jollibee Ice Craze

When Jollibee's Saba Con Yelo failed to make a comeback this summer, I decided to try their Mais Con Yelo instead. And I am glad I did.

Corn bits and cornflakes... great combination! I didn't think I would like it but I really did!

Bathed in creamy milky goodness and cooled by shaved ice... this is one summer treat I pamper myself with every chance I get (which is almost always). It does help cool off the summer heat these days!

I'll keep coming back for more for sure.... until the heat lets up.

Dolor's Sapin-Sapin

I was not much of a "kakanin" fan.... until.. I met Dolor's Sapin Sapin! A friend of ours from Malabon took Mon and me to the original Dolor's years back and we were fans since then.

We couldn't enjoy it as often as we wanted to, though, because Malabon is so far away from our place. That is why I was so thrilled to see an outlet of Dolor's Kakanin open very near our place last year! Yey!

These colors are unmistakably the Filipino's sapin sapin.

Packets of budbud come with it... I call them the wet and the dry. They add flavor and texture to the sapin sapin.

Slice it up any way you want, every bite is just bursting with different textures and flavors with that extra sweet creaminess in your mouth, believe me!

For me, it is not sapin-sapin if it is not Dolor's.

Saint Gabbie's

It was not easy to find. The Saint Gabbie's booth. It was just a small chiller with several shelves occupying a small area on the second floor of Market Market, by the escalator.

But, with a lot of will power, I found it! I just had to, after reading all those raves about their chocolate mud cake. I just knew I had to try it. I was suprised to see that there were other sinfully delicious-looking treats to choose from! It took me a while to take my pick.

I still went for their bestseller, the Chocolate Mud Pie. I would just have to go back some other time to try the rest of the sweet treats.

.... peeking thru the plastic box...

... and meeting it face to face, at last...

And now the best part... for P42 bucks, this wasn't bad at all! It was definitely moist... super soft... though a bit too sugary for me. (No wonder they come in such small slices!) I was barely at my last bite yet I felt like my glucose level was running high already! Hahaha... But I love its chocolatey-ness.

Will I come back for more? I think so.

Highlands Steakhouse

Finally, we got to try Highlands Steakhouse at Mall of Asia. I have heard and read so much about this restaurant, reading more raves than rant, so I was excited to finally get the chance to judge it for myself.

There were so many choices on the menu that even Yoshiko had a tough time ordering.

... the bread came first... then the clam chowder (Mon's favorite)...
This, I loved! The dressing was creamy and with just the right tang I want in my Ceasar's salad. And the croutons are very tasty. I would have been happier if they used romaine lettuce though.

Then came our main orders... each of our plates was brimming with all these mouthwatering and scrumptous food!

To gravy or not to gravy was Yoshiko's dilemma. The steak was definitely tender and cooked just the way I wanted mine, medium-well. Juicy and not dry, sweet and flavorful. Now I know what the raves are all about.

It is one of the better steaks I have tried.

Country Chicken House

If there is any other chicken I've known ever since I little other than Max's and Savory, that would have to be the roasted chicken of Country Chicken House.

It has been ages though since I last tried this and I was glad to find that their take-out outlet along Amoranto St. still operates. And I was even more glad to find that the place has expanded and has other products to offer.

But the main star would have to be their roast whole chicken, chinese style, roasted right in this huge oven!

This is a must-try. Juicy.... tender....perfectly oven roasted.

We love taking this to picnics, potlucks, parties.... oh yes, and they deliver now, too!

HongKong Style Noodles

Whenever I go malling at Market Market, there is always a long line at this Hongkong Style Noodle booth. I have always been curious as to how deelish it is. I finally got my chance last week when, for the first time, the line was short so I didn't waste any time .

The noodles with some toge and leeks are prepared and pre-measured to fit in the tubs. The noodles are then stir-fried until well done and served.

You get two pieces of either pork or beef siomai with your noodles.

And the best part comes last when you get to choose the sauces for your noodles. With six kinds to choose from, it may be quite challenging for some, but daunting for others to mix and match. Me, I was excited at the idea of making the sauce according to my own taste.

At only P27.00 a tub, you get a decent filling meal or snack. No wonder the people line up.

Mon wanted his noodles hot and spicy, I want mine saltysweet... Yum!

Reasonably priced... Delicious... Hot and freshly prepared...
