Red Ribbon's S'mores Chocolate Cake

I treated myself to a sugar fix at Red Ribbon yesterday afternoon while waiting for my hubby to get off from work. From the choices available that day, I decided to get a slice of the their S'more Chocolate Cake .

This was my not so perfectly sliced S'mores chocolate cake.... topped with chocolate squares, dollop of cream icing, and a generous spread of caramel...

..... moist chocolate cake, then a layer of soft gooey marshmallow, followed by a layer of grahams, then again followed by one more layer of marshmallow then finished off with the bottom layer of the same moist chocolate cake....

I wish it were a little less sweet... and the graham more chewy soft. I had a little difficulty cutting thru the slice to get a perfect bite because the graham layer was a bit tough.... my solution, I rolled the slice on its side!

It may not be my favorite Red Ribbon cake but I like the way the different textures meld in my mouth with each bite...

Let me be clear on this... I do not use this product, neither am I selling. But I have read and heard so much rave about it that I am getting kinda curious... yes, maybe even curious enough to try this.

Each capsule claims to have this much vitamins, minerals, fruits and even vegetable nutrients within. From the list below, it is pretty impressive, if you ask me.

I am buying a few packs for myself and my mom.... and I hope it lives up to its name and its promise.

Bookmarkers

A trip to Power Books last Christmas rewarded me with these little bookmarkers that make my reading hobby even more interesting and colorful.

Gone are the days when my bookmarkers fell off the pages of the books they were supposed to mark! Now, with these cool innovative "paper clip" designs, bookmarkers do their jobs better. They grip the page as tight as they can... No falling off!

Another design that is new to me is the magnetic type.

The instructions say it all.

This is a little bit tricky to use but easy to learn and get used to. The magnetic type of bookmarker doesn't have parts jutting out of the book. Neat.

Everyone has a favorite bookmarker. This is mine.

Tikoy

My mom used to teach in Chiang Kai Shiek College so we were introduced to tikoy very early on in life. I don't recall any year in my youth when we didn't have piles and piles and more piles of these red boxes at home reaching as high up as our ceiling literally whenever the Chinese New Year came.

It has been quite a while now since my mom retired from teaching that we got to enjoy tikoy the way we used to.

We prefer the brown one to the white one... this is smoother and creamier and a bit sweeter. Maybe it's just me...

Sliced thinly, dipped in egg and then pan fried in little oil is the only way I know to cook tikoy. Though I have read other ways of preparing this treat, I still prefer our way which i find simpler and easier... faster, too.

Still, it is better to be late than never... Happy Chinese New year to one and all!
