Nope, they're not my mom's kutchinta. I don't think my mom even knows how to make them. But these kutchintas from Mommy's Malabon Pride are definitely so good. you'd wish they came from your ma's kitchen!
A pack of 8 costs only php50.00.
Really now, why choose Krispy Kreme donuts over our very own kutchinta!
i love kutchinta, best combo with kapeng barako! :)
ReplyDeleteSaver's Choice, o diba! native na native ang dating! who needs Starbucks and Krispy Kreme when you have barako and kutchinta! ;)
ReplyDeleteDoc, I am from Malabon jan sa Pinas. May irerecommend akong tindahan ng kutchinta and peachy-peachy.
ReplyDeleteyeah we've tried it :D actually all their kakanins from Mommy's/ Dolor's are so good.
ReplyDeletepinkcookies, Mommy's does make great kakanins no! i love their cassava na parang cupcakes... pati yung yema rolls nila... tamang tama the timpla kasi... :) lucky for us, may store sila right by our village entrance! ;)

DeleteWhere can you buy these?
ReplyDeleteguia, ive been seeing stalls and booths of Mommy's Kakanins in malls. there is one in Market Market, by the open air food court... and i see some stalls in SM malls. :)
ReplyDeleteAre there still itinerant puto and kutsinta vendors plying the streets of Manila? How about balut vendors?
ReplyDeletebertN, now that you asked, parang i dont see tinderas na naglalako much ng kakanins nor balut vendors these days anymore... kakalungkot din somehow no.. parang part of the culture na natin yun... :(
ReplyDeleteHi Doc! Thanks for the compliments that you left in my blog. And thanks for letting me know that I forgot something in my post haha. Anyway, I think the place I am referring to is Dolor (or Dolores)? :-)
ReplyDeleteJ, we used to hold clinic banday dyan kasi. we have tried nga one restaurant that serves daw the original pancit malabon. it wasnt an eskinita nga lang... pero it was just a very simple house na converted yung ground floor to a restau. but the food was great!
ReplyDeleteI love kutchinta. When I'm in Batangas, I always buy from the puto-kutchinta vendor that pass by our house every morning.
ReplyDeletewaaaaaa! this is my ULTI FAVE! saraaaap! 2nd is palitao third is suman, yung manipis. hehe~
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing~

ReplyDeleteNuna, those are the best kinds! the ones made talaga in the provinces!
ReplyDeleteour native delicacies are so underrated no!
We are talking in the 1960's and 70's.
Lalo na rito sa Chicago area, mayroon nga kutsinta but not the same texture and taste plus fresh kinayog na niyog.
Oh how I missed it.
Parejo pala Toyo after 23 years Sa Canada, umuwi aka at sinadyang bumili Ng kutsinta Sa Blumentritt iyan talaga any best kutsinta. Any mother ko ton-taon umuuwi at nagdadala Ng kutsinta from blumentritt. Nakakahon Na ngayon ion kapag bumili kA. Napakasarap gusto ko ngang Malayan piano mila niluluto any kutsinta kakaiba may sauce Na mascara Sa ibabaw.
ReplyDeleteGusto ko to lalo na pag malambot yung pagkakagawa and may yema on top! :P
