Dayrit's II

If there is one other non-roast beef dish at Dayrit's that I love, it would have to be their chorizo macao. Served with achara and plain rice, it is the perfect way to start any day! And that is exactly what I had when we visited Dayrit's at Magallanes one more time. This has always been a favorite of mine!

My Mom and Dad had the Tapa dish which proved to be a good choice as well. The beef was fork tender and very very tasty.

And the perfect way to end a filling meal like this? .... indulging in a tall glass of sago and gulaman!

Ah, one would never run out of things to try at Dayrit's and to favorite!

Red Ribbon's Mango Cashew Roll

I love Red Ribbon's Mango roll. And when they came out with the new Mango Cashew roll, I just had to try it out.

There isn't much difference in the icing and the mango-ness of the roll. It is still the same creamy mango icing with just the right amount of sweetness. But this time, cashew bits have been added for more taste and more texture.
Mango Cashew Roll

The big difference is in the cake they used. My friend, who knows everything about cakes and breads, told me that this kind of cake is what they call angel cake (let me ask her again if I got that right).... the cake uses egg whites instead of whole eggs... thus the difference in texture. The angel cake is denser and heavier.

Which is better? I still prefer the old Mango Roll. The cake is fluffier and lighter. But then again, it all boils down to taste. Try it for yourself.

Deli

One way of, not only saving, but also making sure my husband and I eat clean food is by bringing 'baon' to work. And in our case, bringing sandwiches everyday for lunch works so well. It may not be the healthiest food around but it surely is the cleanest and the safest, having been prepared by myself and in my own kitchen.

I buy two kinds of cold cuts from this deli store nearby and that should last us for a whole week. I am glad that there a lot of choices and varieties to pick from...

A slice or two of these, in wheat bread or raisin bread slices, with a dollop of mayo spread, a slice of tomato and a piece of lettuce... that is power lunch.... Tipid pa!

Itlog Na Maalat

Eggs can't get any more Filipino than this... they're red... and yes, they're salty. Always a welcome attraction in every breakfast... mixed with chopped onions and tomatoes, it delights every Pinoy every morning when enjoying their tuyo or daing na bangus!

Some love the whites.... i love the yolk....

They say that the best itlog na maalat hails from Pateros.... and when I saw this at Tiendesitas last week, I grabbed a pack right away. And, what they say is oh so true.
