I prefer calling this kropek. We use to make this at home using ready-to-deep-fry crackers that instantly literally grow into kropek right before your eyes in seconds! But now, I can get to enjoy this anytime I want even when I am not at home.
Simply open a box and you're ready to go!
Love love love their Kropek!! :)
ReplyDeletei still love frying it on my own...:)
ReplyDeletecandishhh, i sometimes prefer bringing kropek inside the moviehouse than popcorn... ;-)
ReplyDeletedocchef, the only reason why i dont like frying it on my own is that it uses up so much cooking oil... hehehe.. kuripot ba! but homecooked kropek is really way better, i agree. ;-)
Kropek used to be the poor boy's chicharon. But like everybody agrees on, it's best with sukang sinamak and if downed with Cosmos Sarsaparilla, bloats in your tummy giving you that "busog" feeling.
ReplyDeleteKropek, good also with chilli hot homemade salsa!
noypetes, nakakagutom naman ang description mo... nagutom ako! ive never tried it with salsa though. sukang may bawang lang ako, ok na.
ReplyDeletewe used to fry it at home... yung Besuto prwan crackers na brand. but ready to eat ones are now available so grab a bag na lang kami ngayon. tamad no! ;-)
My son loves Kropek. Be it the Chicharap of Chowking or the ones you cook at home. Kaso sometimes yung niluluto sa bahay kahit luto na meron pa din matigas na part. Bakit kaya ganon?
ReplyDeletetrina, i guess hit and miss din talaga ang homecooked. dapat ata super hot and super deep ang oil... i just came from the grocery and got a small bag of besuto prawn crackers... sana ma deep-fry ko ng maganda.
ReplyDeletehi....
ReplyDeletethere's this new product now that you can buy from your suking tindahan or supermarket called tempura-- it's like kropek din.
it was my brother who "discovered" it for the family. In Pampanga where he now works, people eat it as ulam with rice.
personally havent tried it as viand pero sarap sarap po ng tempura. my bro buys it there for 18php in pampanga. we were in hi-top along q. ave yesterday to buy stuff coz i wanted to try manila boy's carmina carbonara recipe and saw tempura being sold there at 14php-- it's cheap na considering its quite big (bigger than the family size of my favorite from day's old na munchees ng jack and jill....oh gosh why did i have to remind myself of munchees). we bought 5 and finished all of them last night.
i'm not in anyway connected with the manufacturers but tempura by regent is really good.
tnx
marielle, thanks for passing by. actually, my hubby and i enjoy tempura very much too! he was the one who discovered it. kalasa nga daw ng chicharap at a much cheaper price, ang laki pa per bag!
ReplyDeleteactually, naka line up sha as one of my blog entries soon. thanks!
May vinegar dip pala sila for this? The last time, or every time we ate their chicharap walang kasamang dip :|
ReplyDeleteyup, may suka dip sila. i like the timpla goes perfectly with their chicharap...
ReplyDeletebaka they forgot lang to put/serve the suka. they do, sometimes. forget, i mean.
