Red Ribbon's Mango Cashew Roll

I love Red Ribbon's Mango roll. And when they came out with the new Mango Cashew roll, I just had to try it out.

There isn't much difference in the icing and the mango-ness of the roll. It is still the same creamy mango icing with just the right amount of sweetness. But this time, cashew bits have been added for more taste and more texture.

The big difference is in the cake they used. My friend, who knows everything about cakes and breads, told me that this kind of cake is what they call angel cake (let me ask her again if I got that right).... the cake uses egg whites instead of whole eggs... thus the difference in texture. The angel cake is denser and heavier.

Which is better? I still prefer the old Mango Roll. The cake is fluffier and lighter. But then again, it all boils down to taste. Try it for yourself.

  1. u8mypinkcookies, oh yes, the mango gives it the summery taste... yum sha just like the mango roll.

  2. oh i see.. thanks doc! try namin when we get a chance to drop by a RR store :)

btw, thanks for the Krispy Kreme coupon ah!! sweeeeet!

  3. uhm, mango cake is one of my fave from red ribbon (blueberry cheesecake tops my list). wish they have it here, i miss eating cakes like this! parang gusto ko shang kunin in front of me. yum!

  4. u8mypinkcookies, youre always welcome.
although i prefer the mango cake kasi fluffier, masarap din naman ang mango cashew roll.

syel, ako din! BBerry cheesecake ang favorite ko. too bad they seldom offer this by the slice sa RR anymore. dati pwede eh.

  5. parang braso de mercedes na mango flavor? parang ganun po?

    masarap ito!

  6. mimi, actually, cake pa din sha.. mas dense nga lang and more compact than the regular sponge cake. hindi sha icing type like brazo. angel's cake ata ang tawag nila dito.. pure egg white daw so more healthy. naks.

  7. DONYA, im not sure if they still have this on their regular items. i havent seen it in a while... besides, i forgot na din how much it was. 200++ ata for the half roll... let me check if they still have this when i pass by.
