We had a late dinner at Max's the other night and we were surpised to be served this bottle of ketchup! For decades, I have enjoyed my Max's fried chicken slathered with the tangy sweet Jufran ketchup. They blended perfectly.
Has Max's ditched Jufran ketchup? Or is it the other way around? We didn't ask anymore. We just ate. It was the same old fried chicken goodness we have always loved anyway.
It's hard to imagine Max's fried chicken without Jufran (even if I'm not much of a ketchup user). Does their own brand taste like Jufran though?
ReplyDeletenina, a bit more tangy than jufran. my husband thinks so too. we prefer Jufran to the Max's brand. ngek, tapos jufran din pala ang laman no! and that everything is just psychological. hahaha.. but really, it did kinda taste a bit more sour and less sweet. :-(
ReplyDeleteFirst there was Mafran and then Jufran, and now we have Max's Banana ketchup? I agree with both you and your hubby, Max's fried chicken goes very well with Mafran or Jufran. My kids favorite fried chicken is Max's. If not for the distance from our house, we'd be having most of our time eating out at Max's. Grilled or deep fried galunggong also goes well with banana ketchup but best with the Ilonggo sinamak! Banana Ketchup...tunay na Pinoy!! lest I forget, Max's fried chicken and atchara!!!
ReplyDeletenoypetes. don't forget their fried lumpiang ubod with sukang sawsawan! one of our favorites! i was originally planning on posting fotos too... but thought, theres probably no need for that... who doesnt know max's fried chicken and the menu! :-)
ReplyDeleteSacrilege! Such a disappointing development for Max. =(
ReplyDeletehouseband00, same here. my hubby and i were just as upset when we reached out for that bottle and read the label.
ReplyDeletehuwaat? hindi na jufran? sarap pa naman nun w/ their chicken :(
ReplyDeleteu8mypinkcookies, i have to try eating there again... baka naman they just took the Jufran brandname out of the label... but still the same old jufran goodnesss.
ReplyDeleteWow that is sad news indeed. You know what though? My favorite with Max's was the Mafran ketchup. The best talaga for me. May Mafran pa ba? Nagutom ako bigla for fried chicken and ketchup. =)
ReplyDeleteruy, hmmmmm, im not so sure kung may mafran pa.. parang meron pa ata... ill check pag balik ko sa grocery next week. ;-)
ReplyDeletespeaking of fried chicken, ill try to blog fried chicken a la max's one of these days pag ginanahan ako. ;-) uses up too much oil kasi eh. haha...
