Bird Billboard

This is what heavy traffic does to my visual acuity! I saw this instead of seeing this.

  1. Ha ha ha. Iba talaga ang Pinoy humor. Were the advertizers thinking of what you and I are thinking? What were you thinking anyway? What was I thinking? How could they? Was it an accident? Was it intentional? Who owns each board? Same or one owner? So many questions but it all leads to one thing. The smart Pinoy humorist. And why did they mix English with Tagalog? The guy who placed the text ad is a genius. And the guy in the picture ad must be in agony no matter what the true size.

  4. I've had my share of traffic jams in and out of Metro Manila. One I can not forget was in 1988 at the Batangas-Laguna Boundary. That portion of the highway had two parallel bridges and the DPWH was making repairs. I do not know what makes drivers try to occupy the left lane when no cars are approaching. This happened on both lanes so there were two lanes going to Manila and two lanes going to Batangas. It took all afternoon till near midnight to untangle the mess. The same thing happened on the Magalang-Concepcion road a year or two after the Pinatubo eruption. It was Holy Thursday and as expected, a large volume of traffic is on its way to the North. But there were also sugar cane trucks from Tarlac on the way to Pampanga to reload or spend the holidays after unloading. The same two lanes of vehicles meeting each other head on accured at the San Roque bridge. This road was the shortest passable road to the North due to lahar in Bamban, Tarlac. I was on a motorcycle so I escaped with ease. I could see and hear babies crying for water or milk under the hot sun of an April noon. Nothing moves. Mothers trying to calm their toddlers. Cars overheating. People alighting from their vehicles with the same facial expression of "what has happened here?"

Maybe, a lot of Pinoys have experienced those kinds of traffic jams that they seldom happen now. They learned their lessons the hard way not to occupy the other lane when traffic comes to a halt or else it would turn into a nightmare.

  5. naku bernie, youll be surprised at traffic here in manila now. not only does your story happen still, but more unimagineable stuff do now.
im still trying to collect more photo materials for a possible post on that topic.
you either get outraged at those photos or humored by them
one thing is sure though, filipinos are truly one of the worst species of drivers.

Tama si Bernie. Masdan mo nga naman yung expression nung mama sa tabing billboard.

Parang naiinggit na nahihiya. (o nanliliit) =)

Lagyan mo kaya ng "Dis" before the word "comfort."

    =)

  9. how is the "no left turn all u turn" program of Fernando? It was ok when I came back a few months back. Siguro sa Edsa lang maayos. Its the volume of vehicles, narrow streets (Spanish influence) and lack of discipline (kasalan na rin ng DOTC-LTO)of drivers kung bakit problema ang traffic dyan sa Metro Manila and the big cities all over the Philippines.

  16. Some may feel squeamish about eating it, but rabbit has a fan base that grows as cooks discover how easy they are to raise — and how good the meat tastes.
